UPDATE (April 20th at 2:30 p.m. EST): This story has been updated after D4vd was charged with murder.
Rapper D4vd was charged with first degree murder on Monday in the killing of 14 year Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke was first looked into after the body of a girl identified as Rivas Hernandez was found in his impounded Tesla.
The singer was arrested on Thursday and on Monday LA County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced that D4vd was charged with first degree murder with circumstances and other things like continuous sexual acts and bad sexual acts with someone under 14 years old and also mutilating human remains.
D4vd is being held without bail now.
If D4vd is found guilty of these things D4vd will face life in prison without being able to get out or D4vd could even get the death penalty.
September the body of Rivas Hernandez was found at a Hollywood tow yard after people working there said they smelled something bad coming from the car.
The body of Rivas Hernandez was identified because she had a tattoo that said "Shhh..." on her index finger and D4vd has the same tattoo.
Her body was found wrapped in plastic. Was so badly broken down that it was not all there.
The police said that D4vd went to an area of Santa Barbara County in the middle of the night back in the spring of 2025 and D4vd stayed there for two hours.
Rivas Hernandez was first reported missing in Riverside County, California which's about 50 miles east of Los Angeles.
According to TMZ the mom of Rivas Hernandez said she knew that Rivas Hernandez was dating someone named David and they had been seen before.
The lawyer of D4vd said in a statement to ABC7 that D4vd is innocent and did not kill Rivas Hernandez.
The lawyer said "Let us be clear. The actual evidence, in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death.
There has been no indictment returned by any jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed.
David has only been detained under suspicion.
We will vigorously defend Davids innocence."
This is a story that is still happening.
